Betty Bedard
Bidwell Scholarship
This
scholarship has been named after a woman who has dedicated herself
to the advancement of human services.
Betty is a Certified Play and Art Therapist/Supervisor, a
Certified Trauma and Loss Specialist, Consultant/Supervisor, Life
Skill Coach, with over 30 years working in the field.
She is the owner and operator of a children’s residential
program that is licensed for 45 children/adolescents.
She has a private practice for children, adolescents, adults
and families. She was
one of the co-founders of the Art Therapy Program at the
University
of
Western Ontario
and was the founder and developer as well as the first program
coordinator of the C.A.C.P.T. Play Therapy Certificate Program.
As an art and play therapist Betty is asked to do workshops
and consultations for other Associations, Agencies, Schools and
Correction Facilities. She
has also been contracted to do team building, problems solving and
crisis intervention using the creative process. Betty
is the editor and co-author of Hand In Hand I and Hand In Hand II.
In 2001, Betty was the recipient of the Premier’s Award
for her community and humanity service.
She also has an annual Premier’s Scholarship Award
in her name. Betty has
served on the C.A.C.P.T. Board of Directors in several positions for
18 years; presently she a consultant to the CACPT Play Therapy
Certificate Program.
Criteria
for the Betty Bedard Bidwell Scholarship
The applicant must demonstrate the following criteria:
-
A strong commitment to working with children and youth and must
demonstrate outstanding achievement through:
-
creating a unique program to meet the needs of children and youth
in their community and/or
-
by utilizing play therapy to create and implement a new creative
program in the community and/or
-
demonstrate personal contributions to professional development
through papers, publications and/or research.

The applicant must demonstrate that his/her involvement in the
training program would benefit his/her agency however, there are
limited funds available to sponsor this involvement.
This Scholarship
will be valued up to $600 towards your tuition for the program
Sandy Foster
Bursary
Sandy
Foster became a certified play therapist in 1998, she received her
certificate as a play therapist supervisor in 2000 and retired in
2003.
Sandy
was the leading force organizing the CACPT Play Therapy Certificate
Program in her community of
North Bay
.
Sandy
was an instructor for the
North Bay
program as well as for the London Play Therapy Certificate Program.
Sandy
was a dedicated member of the C.A.C.P.T. Board of Directors and
served for a number of years as the Education Chair and then as
President.
Sandy
was one of the 1st recipients of the Monica Herbert Award
for her commitment, dedication and involvement, not just in Play
Therapy, but also within her community.
Sandy
tends to be modest about her many accomplishments and prefers to
celebrate the accomplishments of those she has mentored.
C.A.C.P.T. has honoured
Sandy
for her dedication and support to play therapy by providing a
bursary, in her name, which is available to students who come from
and/or choose to practice in remote and/or under serviced areas.
Criteria
for the Sandy Foster Bursary
The applicant must demonstrate the following criteria:
-
The applicant can demonstrate that they reside in a remote or
isolated area that is an under serviced area.
-
No other staff within their agency is trained to do Play Therapy
and/or to provide supervision.
-
The applicant can demonstrate that his/her involvement in the
training program would benefit his/her agency however there is
limited funds available to sponsor this involvement.
This Bursary will
be valued up to $600 towards your tuition for the program
C.A.C.P.T.
Foundation Bursary
Criteria
for the C.A.C.P.T. Foundation Bursary
The applicant must demonstrate at least two or more of
the following criteria:
1.
The applicant can demonstrate that his/her involvement in the
training program would benefit his/her agency however the applicant
has limited funds available to sponsor their involvement in the
program .

The applicant can demonstrate that his/her involvement in the
training program would benefit their community.
-
The applicant is on a government subsidy (i.e.
Works Benefits).
-
Candidate will be working with a distinct client group where funding
is limited.
This Bursary will
be valued up to $600 towards your tuition for the program
