Membership Categories
General Member: A general member is principally engaged in child psychotherapy or play therapy, has a direct or indirect interest in child psychotherapy or play therapy in the field of education, counseling, therapy, research, medicine, law, or the arts and literature. A professional member has graduated in a related field of study through an accredited university or college, are in the process of completing requirements to apply for Certification with CACPT and are under the approval of a CACPT Supervisory OR are professional/registered members with other Associations within a related field such as registered Social Workers, Art Therapists, Family Therapist, Marriage Therapist, Expressive Art Therapists etc. BUT IS NOT certified through CACPT. Certification constitutes a specific category in the Association. Only those members whose academic background, professional experience and professional behaviour meet the standards as determined by the Board of Directors will be eligible for this membership category. Student membership is available to those persons what are attending (at least half time) an accredited college or university in Canada or the United States or its equivalent, and whose major field of study is education, counseling, therapy, research, medicine, law, or the arts and literature. An agency may apply for membership if they are principally engaged in child psychotherapy or play therapy, has a direct or indirect interest in child psychotherapy or play therapy in the field of education, counseling, therapy, research, medicine, law, or the arts and literature.
